As if plugging my laptop into my shiny shiny TV wasn't enough, now I can play movie files without having to get up and plug anything in! My PS3 arrived today and the first thing I did was get my D-Link DNS-323 NAS box serving media to my PS3 and it works!! :D WIN.

(Second thing I did, of course, was watch the first half hour of Surf's Up on Blu-Ray. Soooo very shiny.) @v@

The only downside I've noticed so far is it seems to only support mp3's and not AAC format (which is what most of my music collection is in). Eh.

Before I even got home and unpacked the box, I bought a PS3 remote (because controlling Blu-Ray playback with a game controller is just silly) and an HDMI cable. I've laid the unit flat in my TV cabinet because I don't have space to stand it up anywhere. It's nice that my wireless USB keyboard works with the PS3 as well as the Wii. I couldn't get the PS3 connected to the wifi network because I don't know its MAC address. Eh, I'll just have to settle for a wired Gigabit connection. ;P (Actually, the reason I wanted to go wireless was because I'm now short one cat5 cable. I guess I'll have to work around that by buying an Airport Express.)

I just found out that Sony Australia is giving away 28,000 to 30,000 PlayStation 3 units as part of their Bravia promotion, which ended last month.

I just discovered that I can use my TV as a laptop monitor and watch TV at the same time. :D

Also, if I switch the TV to "game mode" it makes the Wii quite playable. Who'd have thought? :P

My brand new Sony Bravia 46 inch LCD TV. Full high definition. I can plug my laptop into it and get 1920 by 1080 pixels. @v@

When I buy Shinies, I sure don't fuck around.

Currently trying to coordinate getting it home. Brother's ute FTW!

I appear to have run out of space for DVDs. I anticipate a trip to Ikea next weekend.

I've been asked to take photos at a friend's wedding. I've been pondering what steps I need to take to prepare for this. The stock lens that came with my Canon 350D is woefully inadequate, so at a minimum I'm going to have to replace that. I'll probably want to get my camera body cleaned, and whilst I'm at it I might as well have my other lenses cleaned too. That means I'll be without that camera for an indeterminate length of time. I ought to get a compact digital anyway to make this daily photo thing easier. I guess the first step is to find out exactly what sort of photos I'll be taking. Will I need to buy an external flash? More memory? A third battery?

There's too much wax in my ears! Maybe that's why I have trouble hearing sometimes. :p

I have Battlestar Galactica season 3! Hooray! There were only two copies left at JB.
